peacefully Friday April 14, 2023. She is survived by her children Gary,
Carolyn, Gregg (wife Agnes) and grandchildren, Tyler and Allison.
Nancy was a devout Christian, selfless, sweet, giving, and adored by
everyone who met her. She lived a wonderful life.
In the early 1970's, while raising three children, Nancy went to college and
earned a B.S. in accounting, graduating in 1976 magna cum laude. She had a
successful career with R.J. Reynolds that lasted 35 years until her retirement.
Always interested in accounting and finance, Nancy was the first female
president of the Winston-Salem chapter of the National Association of
Accountants.
Nancy had a wide variety of interests. She enjoyed living on a lake, walking
her dog, and watching the birds, sunsets, sunrises, moon and stars. She was
an avid reader and advocate of literacy, devoting many hours over the years
as a reading tutor. Nancy was extremely generous, making annual donations
to over 130 charitable organizations.
Nancy developed many close friends, as reflected by her annual mailing of
over 100 Christmas cards. She maintained friendships for decades, having
special lunches and dinners. In earlier years she loved going to Myrtle Beach,
and in recent years, hosting weekly porch time. Nancy loved her extended
family. She was a fearless traveler, making many long trips to the Philippines
and Texas to visit her grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place June 24. In lieu of flowers, please
send donations to the Trellis Foundation, Senior Services, or the YMCA NC
Literacy Initiative.
