

He was born in Forsyth County on March 18, 1940 to the late Marvin Sumers Branon and Hazel Ashley Branon. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, June Smith Branon; daughters, Normakay (Rodney) Middleton, Cathy Andersen, and April (Kenneth) Mulwee; grandchild, Anna Marie, Rachel Andersen, Lauren Elizabeth and Jake Branon; honorary grandson, Samuel Wood; great grandsons, Bryson, Barrett and Tripp Woody; special niece and nephew, Dionne and Vic.
Richard worked as a machine operator at RJ Reynolds for over 30 years, after retiring he spent his time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He was a long time member at Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Richard loved fishing, riding his bike, bird watching and he was an avid gardener. He was a very talented woodworker. His grandchildren will cherish the wooden toys he made for them throughout the years.
He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He was very involved in everything they did and made sure he taught each of them important life lessons.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mountain Valley Palliative and Hospice Care for the compassion and great care they provided on his final journey.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Vogel Funeral and Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Mountain Valley Palliative and Hospice Care.
