

Robert “Bob” Mac Tribble, 95, passed away on December 24, 2025 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his loving children. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, on October 22, 1930, Bob lived a life characterized by a strong work ethic and an unwavering dedication to his family. No matter what hardships he faced, Bob always approached life with a positive and cheerful attitude. He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed making new friends and reminiscing with old ones.
Bob’s beloved mother Kathryn “Katie” Tribble and grandfather Joseph “Daddy Joe” Chapman gave him a childhood filled with joy and adventure. They also instilled in him pride for a job well done. From 1948 to 1952, Bob attended Clemson University as an ROTC student and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. Afterwards, Bob served two years in the Army in Philadelphia, and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant, later achieving the rank of Captain in the Army Reserves. Bob married Evelyn “Evie” Dorothy Lane on May 22, 1954. Soon afterwards, Bob started work at Western Electric (which later became AT&T) in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he ascended to the position of Senior Staff Engineer. Bob was awarded five patents during his tenure. Bob retired from AT&T in July of 1989, and then started Salem Technologies Inc., a business he built with his son Chris, working there into his early 90s.
Bob was pre-deceased by his mother Kathryn Tribble, brother Joe Tribble, sister Agnes Glen Fowler, his wife Evelyn Lane Tribble, his grandsons Eric Patsch Tribble and Alexander “Alex” Robert Tribble; and his step-grandson Tyler Christian Shively.
Bob is survived by his children Joseph Chapman Tribble (Jill) of Upper Arlington, OH, Dr. Diane Lynn Tribble (Henry Riewerts) of Bloomsbury, NJ, and Robert Christopher Tribble (Jan) of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren Bryan Tribble (Alexandra), Katelyn Tribble, Sydney Tribble, and Leah Riewerts; his step-grandchildren Joy Givens (David), Jenna Shively (Kate), Thomas Shively, and Julianne Shively; and five great-grandchildren.
On Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, the family will receive guests at 11:00 am, a funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, and there will be a reception at 1:00 pm at Volgler Funeral Home located at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville, Rd., Winston Salem, NC. Rev. Dr. Paul Mullen will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104.
