Ruth Stone Butner, 89, of Pfafftown, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Born on September 6, 1936 in Winston Salem, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara Stone. Ruth was the loving wife of the late Harry Butner.
Ruth retired from Hanes Hosiery/ Sara Lee with 30+ years of service. During her time with the company, she worked as an executive secretary and administrative support for Senior Executives in many divisions. She enjoyed horses, crossword puzzles, cooking and baking. Ruth enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the pool and beach. She was a member of Pfafftown Baptist Church where she was active with her Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Klein; brother, Lesley Stone; sister, Doris Sprinkle; her fur babies Bear and Katie.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Danny Joyner and wife Debbie, Ronnie Joyner and wife Lena; stepsons, Marty Butner and wife Teresa, Randy Butner and wife Melissa; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Rose Tara Senior Living and Mountain Valley Hospice for their wonderful care and support of Ruth.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 6 to 8 pm at Voglers Funeral Home at Forsyth Memorial Park. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Voglers. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Rose Tara Senior Living Activity Fund or Mountain Valley Hospice.
