Terry Mack Rhodes, 66, passed away unexpectedly July 18, 2022 at his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born November 22, 1955 in Albany, Georgia, the son of Robert Mitchel Rhodes and Cora Alma (Rhodes) Newell.
In 1983, he married Regina Wood and together they raised three boys: Steven Garner (married to Amanda), David Rhodes (married to Rachel), and Wesley Rhodes. Terry is also survived by his brother Robert Rhodes (married to Diane) and was predeceased by his brothers Carlos Rhodes (married to June) and James Earl Hart (married to Shirley/"Winkie"). Also surviving are six grandchildren: David, Brandon, Jared, Dylan, Evan, and Lizzi, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Terry was a veteran of the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson, SC, where he received a National Defense Service Medal. After his service in the Army, he built a career as a sheet metal and machine mechanic and contractor primarily in Georgia, New York, and Florida. He was also known for his exceptional carpentry skills, which were featured in a woodworking magazine.
Terry's family and friends remember him fondly as a self-proclaimed grill-master, a jokester and prankster, and a guitar-playing history buff who loved to tell hilarious stories about his escapades as a young man in Albany, Georgia. He had a zest for life, always loved going to concerts and listening to music, and he laughed whenever people said he looked like John Lennon. He taught us to cherish time spent with family and friends, remember to always have a good laugh (even when it hurts), and to enjoy a good cocktail now and then!
A celebration of life will be planned for Terry at a later date. Please contact Robert or Gina for details.
