Barbara Baxter Van Buren, age 92, of Clermont, FL, passed away June 4, 2024. Born in Rochester, NY on March 6, 1932, to Evelyn and Ernest Baxter. Barbara was an honor student involved in various activities, especially singing and playing piano in school and church. She graduated from Geneseo State Teachers College and was a member of Clio Sorority and Kappa Delta Pi, Honor Society in Education. She was an elementary teacher, teacher of special children, and Supervisor of 23 Learning Disability Classes before moving to Orlando in 1971 with husband, Frank. In Florida, Barbara volunteered for area professional golf tournaments for 30 years, often a Committee Chairman for Walking Scorers. She was an active member of West Orange Country Club for 20 years, an active volunteer in Health Central Auxiliary for 25 years, and enjoyed playing in the West Orange Duplicate Bridge Club for many years. Barbara and Frank traveled to all 50 United States, Europe, and other interesting places. She was preceded in death by Frank Van Buren, her loving husband and friend of 55 years, and her sister, Joan Baxter. She is survived by dear sister, Nancy Hulse; nieces, Susan Hulse and Debra Slais (Brian); and nephews, Jeffrey Hulse (Melanie), Jim Baxter, and Nicole Hulse
A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held at 11:00am on July 13, 2024 at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 428 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.
