Chris was born on January 9, 1974 in St. Petersburg, FL to Edwin and Mary Jane Hansen. He spent his early childhood in Woodstock, GA before moving to Port Charlotte, FL and graduated from Port Charlotte High School. As an avid Gator fan, he proudly attended the University of Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Chris worked as a professional engineer in roadway design for Kimley Horn and Associates.
Chris was known as a devoted husband and father, spending his days “living the dream,” as he liked to say. His dream was a simple one—he wanted nothing more than to care for his family in every way possible. He took immense pride in his children. From him, they learned compassion, resilience, empathy, and the importance of never hesitating to say, “I love you” or “I’m sorry.” He showed them that small moments are just as meaningful as the big ones. He taught them to love deeply and that, together, we can do the hardest of things.
Chris is survived by his wife Tracy; children Hailey (23), Aidan (20) and Tiernan (15); and his father Edwin Hansen and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane Hansen and brother Michael Hansen.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on January 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Resurrection Catholic Church in Winter Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Oligo Nation in Chris’s memory to https://www.oligonation.org
