Ellouise James Hall lived a life that was not only filled with family, friends and fun, but also with time spent in volunteer opportunities that gave back to her community and country.
Born in Great Lakes, Illinois on October 9, 1951 to Jack and Alice James, the family traveled quite a bit with Jack’s Military enlistment, but eventually settled in Christmas, Florida.
Ellouise loved The Sunshine State and for over thirty years she lived in Hollywood, FL, where she was a school teacher in South Florida’s Broward County School District. Here, she influenced several generations of students, who fondly remember “E,” as they called her.
While working as a full-time teacher, Ellouise went back to school, earning her Masters Degree In Geosciences at Mississippi State University. Here, she not only furthered her education, but also became a lifelong fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. She joined the Alumni Association of Orlando, where she made great friends, attended a number of “watch parties” and even went to the Outback Bowl Game in which the Bulldogs played, this past New Year’s Day.
During her career and well into her retirement, when she relocated to Winter Garden, Ellouise gave freely of her time, volunteering with Daughters of the American Revolution, Girl Scouts of America, National Society Daughters of the Union 1861-1865 and Kappa Delta Sorority at University of Central Florida. Here, Ellouise made lifelong friends and continued to give back to the community she called home for so long.
Also a devoted Disney fan, Ellouise loved to go to nearby Walt Disney World and would look for any opportunity to “play” in the Parks, especially with her daughter Michelle and son-in-law Michael.
The positivity and hope embodied by Disney was how Ellouise lived her life, even after being diagnosed with Cancer in 2017. She bravely fought through her illness and continued to volunteer during this time.
Ellouise James Hall passed away on January 10, 2019 at Winter Park Memorial Hospital with her daughter Michelle and son-in-law Michael at her side. She will be terribly missed by so many and she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.
Ellouise’s husband Richard Hall (to whom she was married in 1972) passed away in 2003. Her father Jack passed away in 2016. Ellouise is survived by her mother Alice, mother-in-law Sylvia, daughter Michelle and son-in-law Michael.
