Flora V. Patrick, 96 passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 after a courageous 15 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born and raised in the coal mining town of Riverdale, West Virginia. She later married her husband of 65 years, Jack Patrick, who preceded her in death in 2001.
During World War II with Jack in the Navy, she was part of the Women’s Homefront Effort by becoming a welder of drums for ships and parts of bomb sights for planes. After she moved to Orlando, she opened her first beauty salon in Colonialtown in 1956. She later opened her second shop in Winter Garden, where she lived out her retirement years doing volunteer work. She leaves behind her son, Kerry Patrick, Winter Park; her granddaughter, Chelsea Patrick, Cocoa; her sister, Betty Miller and her niece, Dr. Judith Hoover, Russellville, Kentucky.
