Frank Green Jr. 69, resident of Clermont, passed away on June 23, 2018. He was on vacation in San Diego and was surrounded by family and loved ones. The lovable father, “Papa” and friend is survived by his best friend and wife Margaret “Margie” Green; his son Frank Green III (wife Amy); his daughter Katy Green Koenig; his son Joseph Green (wife Megan) and his three grandchildren Oliver, Hudson and Fitz. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Ann Green.
Frank proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968–1972. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Hancock during his two tours in the Vietnam War. He was accredited as a Distinguished Student at U.S. Army Door Gunner School. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer Second Class (E-5). He also served as a Counter Insurgency Work Center Supervisor.
He devoted his life to his family and community. He was a passionate coach for youth football and Little League baseball in the Chicago suburbs for 16 years. He served on the board of directors and acted as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Park District liaison and Tournament Director over a combined 14 seasons. He was lovingly referred to as “Coach” by many people throughout the area, including friends, family and acquaintances.
After working in the communication industry for 42 years and raising his family in Downers Grove, Illinois, Frank along with his beloved wife Margie fulfilled their dream of moving to Florida where he enjoyed his days working and playing at the four major Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs. He was a proud cast member of the opening team for the Pandora expansion at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Frank was a true family man who brought joy to everyone. He always made it a point to get to know everyone he met. He prided himself on making everyone in his life feel comfortable and at ease. He left a lasting impression as a fun loving, intelligent and charitable individual. He lived his life just how he wanted to.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 2nd from 6:00-8:00 pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home-Winter Garden Chapel; 428 E Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 3rd at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; 720 12th St, Clermont, FL 34711. Burial with military honors will follow at the Florida National Cemetery; 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
