

James “Jim” Thomas Schmidt, 92, of Orlando, FL passed away on September 10, 2014. He was born on September 5, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Fred and Goldie Schmidt. Jim stayed busy his entire life. He started at a young age by joining the United States Navy and served his country in the" SeaBees". After his military career Jim worked at Kingan's Meat Packing as a Butcher, and later worked security for Bridgeport Brass. Jim also worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, Mason Dickson, Albertsons, and many others. He met his late wife, Jeanne, at a young age in Indianapolis and the two enjoyed 65 ½ years of marriage prior to her passing in April of 2010. Together, Jim and Jeanne had 2 children, Joyce and Jerrold. Together, they made up “The 4 Js.” In addition to his many careers, Jim was very involved with fraternal organizations. He was a Lifetime Member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of Belleville Lodge No. 65. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite. Jim enjoyed square dancing and was a part of the “Garden Patch” square-dancing group of Winter Garden, FL. He also loved to roller-skate, something he and Jeanne would do together. Jim will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in passing by his wife Jeanne and his siblings George, Dutch, Doc, Jake, Johnny, Wilbur (“Bib”), and Edna. Jim is survived by his daughter Joyce Reynolds and husband Donald; his son Jerrold Schmidt and wife Nora; his grandchildren Angela, Robin, Steven, and Renee`; and 5 great-grandchildren.
