

James David Osborne Sr, 71, of Oakland, Florida went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2016. Born December 17, 1944, David was a graduate of the United States Military Academy’s Class of 1967. David proudly served this great Nation in peace and in the Vietnam war as an officer in the United States Army for 25 years; and eventually retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992. Following retirement, David became a professor of Business, and retired a second time to a life of caring for others, mentoring his grandchildren, and being the perfect partner for his adoring wife, Gerrie. David and Gerrie will have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on July 22, 2016. He is greatly missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his loving wife Geraldine Osborne; three children Major James D. Osborne Jr. (USAR, Retired), Julianne Edney, and Jennifer Terrasi and their spouses; nine grandchildren; and one great grandson due July 30, 2016.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, from 6:30- 8pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL. Funeral service will take place at West Orange Baptist Church in Oakland, Florida on Friday, July 15 at 10am followed by military honor internment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 2pm.
The family asks that instead of flowers to send donations to the Africa Inland Mission Retirement at 1000 Media Road, Minneola, FL 34715. David spent many hours volunteering his time to the retirees of the AIMR community.
