I just wanted to let you know that you have our sincere sympathy.  I got to know John or "Moatsy" as we called him when I was a kid.  I used to ride along with my Dad in his truck and we would stop by the garage and with cookies, candy, pretzels, chips and soda.....all the stuff you don't need.  It was fun stopping there and I even got a cities service tow truck for Christmas one year.  I am so glad you put some pictures in there of how I remember him with at the garage with his flat top. Now I now know why my Dad liked him so much, being a Navy guy and my Dad a Marine (me too).  It is fun to remember but please know that we are thinking about all of you.  Harold E. Just returned from a trip and learned of John's passing. We want to express our condolences to Laura and Keith. Many thoughts are also with all his sisters and brothers - although we have lost touch, we often think of the Spade/Moats relatives !!! Love Kirsten & Ned Bishop

We were so saddened to hear of John's passing. John and Laura became "grandparents" to our children many years ago, when we lived just a short distance away from them in Lancaster County. They had these poor young marrieds over for dinner many times, hosted a baby shower for us before our son was born, and became lifelong friends. We well remember how, when it got late, John would look at his watch and say, "5 o'clock comes awfully early," and that would be our cue to leave! Seems like John's heavenly cue came too soon--we were looking forward to visiting him this year in Florida. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Keith, we are praying for you & your family at this difficult time. Lean on God when life gets rough, He will get you through. Praying that God will give you & the family strength at this time of loss. We love all of you.

John was A special person in Pats and My life. We bonded with John and Laura when we first met them 12 years ago in Church. He always had a kind work, and you mention cars and his face would lite up. John Moats was a true friend, we will miss him greatly but we will see him again in Heaven.

Clem has known John since 1948 when they served in the Navy together on the USS Soley.  Just a month ago Clem and another shipmate, John Olejar, went to visit him at his home.  They had a wonderful time reminiscing over all the years they have been best friends.  We treasure the beautiful friendship we have had with John & Laura for so many years.
All of you are in our thoughts and prayers and we will miss him so much.

Known "The Boss" all my life.  John and Laura infused our family in theirs over the years.  Many fond memories from the cabin along the river, boating, christmas's and fun times when I visited Dad at the garage or nan in the trailer.  John was always a loving, gentle and kind man who would  take the time and opportunity to shepphard a friend.  Our prayers go out to you all, especially Laura.  PS  It's hard to believe that in 2 months time we lost the Boss and Jimbo...Kathy is in good company and will probably be keeping them straight!

I am so sorry for your loss.  Your dad was a very special man.  I remember spending time with he and your mom when I visited my Aunt Gerry. You will be in my prayers.

We have many fond memories of times shared with your mom and dad.  He will be greatly missed.  Our prayers have been and still are with the family.

John was my neighbor for 5 yrs and after I moved he continued to be my friend for 7 yrs more. He help me in times of need. Like when I needed help with one of my cars and options were few. One time a few yrs ago he opened his heart to my troubled son when he needed a strong male role model and a kind ear to listen. He always acted like his acts of kindness were effortless.He was such a devoted family man and christian. He will be greatly missed by all that had the honor of knowing him.

Condolences from the O'Connell's... Keith and myself were on the same wrestling team at Solanco High School and the class of 1971 ... John and Keith worked on my cars from time to time .. John always seemed to have a smile and a kind word for me ... I  am glad that I had the privilage of knowing Mr. Moats , as I believe I called him most of the time .. Our prayers are with Keith ,his family ,  and the rest of the Moats family... God Bless...

We had the honor of meeting John when Keith brought him up to TN for a four wheeling trip.  He enjoyed driven so much and as we stopped to look at the beautiful nature and colors, he would tell me stories of his life,  I know he will be missed by many.  Johin has no more pain,  God has taken him home where "No One Stands Along" RIP our beloved friend.

John was my great-uncle! My heartfelt condolences to his son Keith and Keith's family. My heartfelt sympathy to my great-aunt Laura as well. May God comfort you all during this difficult time!

I did not know John very long, but his love and concern for Laura and  family were evident to all who met him. He was proud  to have served his country in the United States Navy. I am grateful to John and to all those who have protected our nation.  God bless you.
