Ray is predeceased by his parents Helen McAllister Conn and Odell Walker Conn and brothers Donald and Jerry.
Ray is survived by his wife of 25 years Jean Lowe Conn of Brewerton NY and his beloved dog Annie. Children Jeannie (David) Strasser, Marvin Conn Jr, Theresa Wentling, Katheryn (Jody) Exner, James (Kathleen)Goettel, Mark (MaryAnn) Goettel and Susan Bresadola. 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Kay (Merl) Blom and Judith (Dennis) Miner and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was a proud 8-year veteran of the Navy and 8 years of the Coast Guard. He was a ham operator when he was stationed. He then worked as a mechanical plumber and pipefitter, construction foreman and superintendent as well as a licensed commercial pilot. He retired from the West Palm Beach Florida Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was a member of both the Local 630 West Palm Beach and National Plumbers and Pipefitters union. He also was a 33rd Degree Mason and belonged to Palmwood Masonic Lodge 303 in West Palm Beach. In Polo Park he had been active in both the Polo Park CAP (Citizens Assisted Patrol for Polk County Sheriff’s Office) and CERTS (Community Emergency Response Team). In his free time, he was an avid car enthusiast and would show his 1994 Ford Mustang Convertible.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday June 24 at 11:00 am in St Faustina’s Catholic Church 15551 N. Boggy Marsh Rd, Clermont, FL 34714.
A celebration of his life will take place at 12:30 pm at the Challenger Club House in Polo Park West. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
