He is survived by his wife, Barbara Devine, and his children, JP Gooderham (Jess Snyder) and Brooke Gooderham. In addition, he is greatly missed by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Born in Memphis, TN, Russell is preceded in death by both of his parents, Mavis and Clyde Devine, Jr., and his brother, Don Devine.
Russell retired in 2018. Well regarded as a leader and manager, he last served as Vice President of Sales at Safety Products, Inc. in Lakeland, Fl. He and his family moved to central Florida in 2011 when Russell had accepted a position as Vice President of MRO at HD Supply Power Solutions. He had formerly lived in Pittsburgh, PA where he was the National MRO Sales Director - Utility for WESCO Distribution. Earlier in his career he served as Director of Operations at Hagemeyer North America and was a General Manager at Fairmont Supply.
Russell was a proud graduate of Trezevant High School in Memphis, TN and maintained a close relationship with many of his high school friends. He attended the University of Memphis.
Russell was an outdoor enthusiast and could often be found bass fishing on Johns Lake. He loved stocking the neighborhood ponds with some of his best catches to ensure the children in the neighborhood would catch “trophy’s”. He spent considerable time throughout his life hunting at his tree farm in Vaiden, Mississippi (usually with his two best friends, Roy Daniel and Tim Rodgers and his closest friends and relatives). He embraced every minute of his life and traveled extensively, spending time in nearly every single state in America as well as visits to many international locations. He was known for his ability to negotiate and lead. The love he shared with his wife and the fierce devotion to their family was noticed by nearly everyone who knew him.
Despite having been diagnosed and treated for four different kinds of cancer, Russell lived his life fully.
He was grateful for medical intervention and care provided by many health care providers and truly understood that his journey was long because of early detection and treatment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the DEVINE HOPE team of the central Florida PanCan PurpleStride Central Florida - taking steps to end pancreatic cancer. HTTPS://bndfr.com/2Rlht
