Ruth Martin

Ruth Martin, 93 of Mount Dora, FL went home to be with her Lord on January 11, 2019. She was born in Miami, Florida on August 19, 1925. Ruth was a military wife and traveled the world with her husband on his duty assignments. She also was a long time employee for Sears working in Customer Service. Ruth had a strong faith and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Mt. Dora. When Ruth and her late husband lived at the beach, they enjoyed fishing, walking the beach and card games with friends. She was an avid bingo player, and never missed an online game of Words with Friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James R. Martin. She is survived by her children: Maureen Backenstoss and husband Gil, Deborah Johns and husband Quint and Barbara Byrd and husband Dwight; her seven grandchildren and her fourteen great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Friday, January 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mount Dora. Entombment will follow at 12 Noon at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a mass dedication be made in your parish in memory of Ruth.
