

Betty was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 19, 1930 to Lester and Zelene Kendrick. Betty attended McClenagen High School in Florence, SC and she graduated from McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing with an R.N. degree in 1950. She moved to Winter Haven, FL in 1960 and worked at the Winter Haven Hospital for 6 years. She met her husband of 57 years James H. Cross and the two were married in 1963. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Winter Haven. After her 3 children were born she gave up her nursing career to become a full time mom. She loved cooking, baking, driving car pool and entertaining. She loved having the house all the neighborhood kids would come and swim and hang out at. The family loved spending time at the beach, cruises and traveling to other states on family vacations. She had a big heart for animals and had cats and dogs her entire life. Betty loved to sew and made dresses for herself and her daughter Julie to wear. She loved to play the piano. She loved her family and enjoyed being a grandmother to 3 grandsons and 1 great grandson.
Betty is survived by her husband James Cross; her daughter Julie Cross; her son and daughter in law Albert and Tiffany Cross; her son and daughter in law Michael and Ashley Coker of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Her grandchildren William Albert Cross, Joshua Coker, Maxx Coker, and great grandson Foxx Coker.
