WINTER HAVEN - Corliss Jean Smith, 88, passed away on July 11, 2011 at Good Shepherd Hospice.

Born in Sciotoville, OH, she lived in Ohio until moving to Winter Haven in 1974. She worked as a medical assistant for 30 years near Kent, OH. Corliss volunteered at Winter Haven Hospital and Theatre Winter Haven and belonged to St. John's Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband Paul E. Smith, parents Edgar and Callie Smith, brothers George and Gary Smith and sister-in-law Erma Smith. Corliss is survived by daughter Verajane (Kevin) Hurlbut, Winter Haven; sisters Pauline (widow of Don) Shellhorn, Port Richey, Judy (Tom) White, Ocala; brother Dale (Ginny) Smith, Lake Placid; sister-in-law Carol (widow of Gary) Smith, Ravenna, OH; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale; the USO; or Boys Town.

Memorial service will be at St. John's United Methodist Church in Winter Haven at 2:00 pm. Friday, July 22, 2011.
