

Winter Haven – Mr. David Hunter Jackson, age 90, of Winter Haven, FL passed away March 10, 2011 at his residence due to kidney cancer. He was born November 24, 1920 in York County, SC the son of the late William White and Edna Moseline (Kendrick) Jackson. He was a Personnel Director for Owens Illinois Corrugated Container. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII from January 1942 through October 1945, fighting in the battle of Guadalcanal and receiving the Purple Heart. After discharge from the Marines, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, where he met his wife, Marion Cobb, who was a teacher at the university. They were married for 52 years before her death in 2002. In addition to his wife and parents, David is also preceded in death by his siblings Elizabeth, Kendrick, Viola and Rachel. He is survived by his son Edward (Cathy) Jackson of Heathrow, FL, daughters Becky VonBorstel of Tucson, AZ and Judy (Alan)Williamson of Tampa, FL and granddaughter Katie VonBorstel.
