

LAKE WALES - Francis Kmietowicz, 90, passed away on October 8, 2015, at home in Lake Wales, FL. He came to the area from Berwick, PA 41 years ago. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He served in the U.S. ARMY WWII, Korean Conflict. He taught ROTC at Carnegie Tech University.
He was born in Glen Lyon, PA on October 14, 1924. He enlisted in 1942, fought with the U.S. Army Engineers 1000th Treadway Co. that build the first bridge over the Rhine in WWII. He later retired as a Master Sgt. E8 in 1967. He then moved to Winter Haven and worked for Bob Simonds Co. till retirement.
Until recently he enjoyed trips all over FL While riding along with his good friend Kimmer Scott delivering with Road Runners Services. He enjoyed Tuesday Night poker games with his buddies and loved a good game of euchre.
He was preceded in death by son, Alan on January 31, 2015. He will be missed by his daughter, Judith Hiller and husband David of PA; son, Daniel of NY; four grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 2-4pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven, FL. A Graveside service will be 10:30am on Monday, October 12, 2015, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City, FL. In Lieu of flowers make donations to the Army Relief Fund.
