

Jessie B. Stanfield, 88, of Alturas, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 20, 2022. He was born on February 19, 1934 in Steele, Missouri to the late William Owen Stanfield and Harbour Davidson Stanfield.
Jessie moved to Florida in the early 50’s from Missouri. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Betty Hoosier, and together they had 6 beautiful children. Jessie worked as a mechanical maintenance supervisor in the citrus industry for most of his life, always working hard to ensure his family was taken care of. He was a lifelong member of the Eloise United Methodist Church. Jessie was involved in the music ministry program at his church. He loved singing and helped establish the Journeyman Quartet 50 years ago which later became the Journeyman Singers. When not working or volunteering at church, Jessie enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, but most importantly he loved being a family man.
Jessie is preceded in death by his son Jeffery “Jeff” Stanfield. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty J. Stanfield, and his children Jessie Stanfield Jr., William “Bill” Stanfield (Missy), Pamela “Pam” Bobo (Kenneth), Beth Reed (Stephen) and Jonathan Stanfield (Shannon). Jessie also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a multitude of extended family members, church family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at the Namesake Apostolic Church in Lake Wales on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with a funeral service to begin at 1:00pm. The church address is 34 Hwy 60 W, Lake Wales, FL 33859. Following the service at the church, the family will be making their way to the Eagle Lake Church of Christ Cemetery where Jessie will be laid to rest.
