Joan Audrey Wilcox

Joan was a woman of many interests, most notably her love for stained glass and bowling. Her talent in bowling earned her both state and national awards. Whether competing on the lanes or creating beautiful stained glass, she brought a special light to everything she did.

On January 30, 1955, she married the love of her life, Warren C. Wilcox and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love and laughter. Joan had a fulfilling career, working for General Telephone Company in Three Rivers, MI as a switchboard operator, and later as a window dresser at JC Penney, where her creativity and attention to detail was able to shine.

Her faith was important to her, and for over 30 years, she was an active member of the Alter Guild at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Garden City, MI. Later in life, she attended Grace Lutheran in Winter Haven, FL. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Stars and White Shrine, where she formed lasting friendships.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Warren C. Wilcox Sr., children Warren C. Wilcox Jr. (Christine S.) and Norman H. Wilcox (Mary H.), grandchildren Jessica L. Miles (Jack III), Aaron J. Wilcox (Ellie J.), Andrew N. Wilcox (Eman A.), Joslyn P. Wilcox, and Benjamin M. Wilcox, as well as one great grandson, Zachary W. Kline. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry H. Brower and Hulda S. Berglund, as well as siblings Alice Peddicord, Dorthy Wheeler, Melba Johnson, and Henry Brower. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, FL.
