

John Sanchez Jr., 68, entered into eternal peace on April 14, 2013, at home with his wife and children due to cancer. John was born on July 11, 1944, in Winter Haven, Florida. He graduated from Winter Haven High School. John worked for the City of Winter Haven for forty years. John served on the City of Winter Haven safety committee for many years. He was a board member and credit loan officer for the City of Winter Haven Municipal Federal Credit Union from 1973-1984. He was on the City of Winter Haven Tree Board committee for many years and was on the City of Winter Haven retirement committee. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader for Troop 123. He is a Master Mason, Lodge 186 State of FL, and is a Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Tampa Orient of FL. Johnny was a very committed person to family and friends and was proud of his accomplishments in life. Everyone that knew Johnny will be grateful the he came into their lives and will be remembered by his awesome personality and great smile.
He is predeceased by his father, John C. Sanchez Sr., mother, Mildred Redmond, sister, Sandra Shuler, and nephews, Tommy Day and Chris Mock. He is survived by, Shelba Jean Sanchez, his wife of 49 years, a son, Michael Wayne Sanchez (Stephanie), of Winter Haven, a daughter, Donna Kaye Jones (Chris), of Auburndale, He has 6 grandchildren, Jonathan Sanchez, of Winter Haven, Ashley Sanchez, of Auburndale, Clayton and Brittany Jones, of Auburndale, Taylor and Harley Sanchez, of Winter Haven, three great grandchildren, Caden Hunter and Lily Sanchez of Auburndale, and Ellie Sanchez, of Fayetteville, NC, his sisters, Sharon Day (Euley), of Lakeland, Jeanette Grace (Tommy), of Bartow, brothers, Sammy Sanchez (Karen), of Winter Haven, Jimmy Sanchez (Alane), of Brunswick, GA, and other family members.
His hobbies were riding his Road King, camping, fishing, building chairs and wood toys for his grandchildren, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial in honor of John on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 11:00 am at Winter Haven Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
