John "Larry" Smith

John Lawrence “Larry” Smith, 72, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on July 29, 2019 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born on May 12, 1947 in Louisville, KY and moved to this area nine years ago from Corydon, IN. He worked as an electrician at Pillsbury/General Mills and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of Blues MC and the American Legion.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Smith and Ruth Anne Henderson Smith, sisters, Ruth Smith, Ginny Burton, Terri Loftus, Carlis Turner, Bobbi Kirchgessner, and Debbi Drechsel, and brothers, Robert Smith and Charlie Smith. He is survived by his wife, N. Starr Smith of Winter Haven, FL, daughters, Catherine “Kit” Smith of Corydon, IN, Melanie Henderson (Steven) of Corydon, IN, and Margaret Smith of Indianapolis, IN, sisters, Mary McKinley (Mike) of Sellersburg, IN and Colleen Kirchgessner (Donald) of Jeffersonville, IN, brother, Mark Smith (Stephanie) of New Albany, IN, grandchildren, Steven “Kelly” Henderson III, John Lawrence Henderson, and Lanie Star Henderson all of Corydon, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday August 2, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims’ FL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
