Born Alice Colene Dodds on May 5th 1943, she was known simply as Colene—a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a faithful servant of Christ. She was married to her beloved husband, Dale Allen, for 62 years, and together they created a life rich in love, faith, and family.
Colene’s greatest calling was that of a mother. A stay-at-home mom, she poured her heart into raising her three children—Douglas Allen, Debra Allen Tompkins, and David Allen—with gentleness, strength, and a steadfast commitment to the Lord. She raised her family in faith, creating a home filled with prayer, kindness, and the quiet strength of a woman fully devoted to Christ.
Her love only grew as her family did. She was a proud and deeply loving grandmother to four grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to two.
Colene’s heart for the Lord extended beyond her home and into her church community. A lifelong Christian, she was an active member of South Haven Christian Church. Over the years, she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher, lovingly guiding young hearts to know Jesus. She also shared her joy and energy teaching at Vacation Bible School, where her warmth and faith left lasting impressions on countless children.
Those who knew Colene will remember her not just for her devotion to family and faith, but for her gentle spirit, her quiet courage, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. Her life was a reflection of God’s love—unwavering, humble, and deeply compassionate.
Though we grieve her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, and grace will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
