

AnnMarie De Carlo-Sides, 82, of Orlando, FL passed away at her home on May 17, 2016. She was born on March 13, 1934 in Schenectady, New York to the late Dominic and Rose De Carlo. After graduating from high school, AnnMarie worked as a legal secretary for several years and put herself through college at night at the Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. Upon graduation she moved to Orlando in 1965 to take a job with the Orange County Public Schools. She taught children at McCoy & Palmetto Elementary School for many years while earning her Education Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern (1982) and then later obtained her PhD in Computer Science from Walden University (1988). AnnMarie was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1992. She married Wilborn “Dave” Sides (1977), a union pipe-fitter at Disney World, who was also the owner and operator of Sides Christmas Trees, with a main location on South OBT for over 35 years. AnnMarie worked side by side with Dave for many years up until his passing in 1994. She retired from OCPS in 1998 and continued to run their tree business every holiday season until closing in 2003. AnnMarie is also preceded in death by her brother, Dominic R. De Carlo. Survivors include her three nephews, John D. De Carlo, Steven R. (Colleen) De Carlo, Jeffrey D. (Mariana) De Carlo and great nieces, Darby and Casey De Carlo and great nephew, Marco De Carlo. AnnMarie was the most selfless and patient person we knew, sharing her fortune of knowledge, wealth and ethics to her family, friends and children of this community. Please join her nephews and their families for a brief gathering on Sun., May 22 from 5-6pm at Baldwin Fairchild-Ivanhoe Chapel and a Graveside Service at 10am, Mon., May 23 at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park.
