He was born June 16, 1934, in Auburn, New York, the son of Herbert K. and Helen A. (Lavey) Copley.
Charlie attended Holy Family High School in Auburn. His first job was being a page at Seymour Library at age 11. He later served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his military service, he married Barbara Alice Riegler, and they immediately moved to Florida, where he obtained his pilot's license. Ultimately he retired from Specialty Metals in Orlando. Charlie & Barbara celebrated 65 years of marriage in October.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by two brothers, George and Paul, and a sister, Jane. Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara, are his sisters, Anne Suska and Kathryn Bellnier, both of Florida, and Roberta Bellnier (Paul) of New York, as well as daughters, Andrea Franklin (Brian), Deanna Copley, Colleen Berry (Paul), son Eric Copley, grandchildren Scott Franklin, Amanda Shoopman (Andrew), Holly Berry, and Elijah Berry, and great grandson Frederick Shoopman, all living in Central Florida. He loved and was very close to his many nieces and nephews.
Charlie had a good sense of humor, was great with mechanical things, and loved planes, boats, and cars. He was loved tremendously by his entire family and will be greatly missed. No formal services are scheduled.
There will not be any services for Charlie, but anyone is welcome to accompany the family as they lay him to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Park on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10AM.
