Dorothy A. Collins, the daughter of Mrs. Sallie Cannady was born in Claxton, Georgia on September 18, 1923. She passed away Friday, February 1st at Westminster Baldwin Park at the age of 95. While she was in high school her family moved to New York City, New York, where she met and married the love of her life, Lt. Col. Fred A. Collins, Jr.. They shared the journey of life together for 58 years, until her husbands death in 2001. As a military wife she was frequently called upon to move the entire family. She was the anchor of the family. For years Dorothy and her husband, participated in the Heroes of '76, dressed in period costumes from the Revolutionary War to teach children about this country and the freedoms they have. She was an active member of Aloma Methodist Church for many years. She was very religious and read her scriptures daily. She was wonderfully devoted to her husband and five children, Fred A Collins, III, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; Brian A Collins, Daytona Beach, Florida; Craig A Collins, Gila Bend, Arizona; Sally White, Atlanta, Georgia and Dorothy Bodoin, Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, the family includes sixteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Our special thank you to the caregivers at Cornerstone Hospice who guided her care during her last days.
