

GLORIA “ANGELA” COCKMAN- Winter Park-Mrs. Cockman, 57, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Tuesday September 20, 2016. Angela was born October 5, 1958 in Monterey Park, CA, daughter of Gloria Paul Beckner and the late Branard Hughes Beckner. Survivors include her husband, Steve; her three children: Shanna Cockman Windle of Winter Park, Tara Clayton (Bo) of Durham, NC, and Ryan Cockman of Nashville, TN; her mother, Gloria; her four siblings: Teresa Beckner, Tina Lay, Kevin Beckner, and Bernie Beckner (Angie); and three beloved grandchildren: Addie and Nate Windle and Bowden Clayton. She and her husband Steve were married for thirty-six years and moved to Winter Park in 1995. Angela grew up in Windermere and attended Lake Brantley High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Traffic Control Devices, Inc. and served as the CFO of Highway Structures, Inc. In 2007, Angela received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Central Florida (UCF). Three years later, she received a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from UCF, where she was inducted into the Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society. Angela was an accomplished artist; the Orlando Museum of Art selected several of her works as part of their 1st Thursdays series. She was a member of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Parish in Altamonte Springs. Angela was a long-time supporter of the Florida Young Artists Orchestra, Davidson College, the Orlando Union Rescue Mission, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and she served on the board of WDAV Classical Public Radio. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, September 28 at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Parish. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Orlando Union Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
