Janet Ann Harrington, 83, of Longwood, passed away on January 19, 2026. Born on January 13, 1943, in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of Michael and Ann Krenza. Janet graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers and later married the love of her life, Neil Harrington, on September 10, 1961. They shared 50 years of marriage before his passing, a partnership marked by devotion and unwavering love. She also endured the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Bonnie, a grief she carried with quiet strength.
When the family first moved to Miami, Janet volunteered at the local hospital, offering her time and kindness to others. While raising her four children, she worked as a legal secretary in Miami and Orlando before joining Rollins College in Alumni Relations, where she formed many lasting friendships until her retirement.
Janet cherished her family above all else. She was an avid reader, a devoted dog lover, and a collector of art and antiques. She was known for her cooking, her love of British and mystery television, and her joy in traveling. She also treasured her years in a bowling league, shopping outings, and great Italian food.
Nothing delighted her more than attending her grandchildren’s theater performances and sporting events—she was their biggest fan. Janet had a gift for conversation and loved connecting with people, often bringing laughter wherever she went. She was strong‑willed, warm‑spirited, and deeply grateful to those who cared for her throughout the years. She faced life’s challenges with remarkable courage, including surviving breast cancer twice.
She is survived by her children Dianne Harrington Gocek (Jimmy), Larry Harrington (Kelly), and Karen Martorelli (Armando); and by her beloved grandchildren Nicholas, Jennifer, Aidan, Liam, Paige, Mia, and Tatiana, who brought her immeasurable joy.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 30, 2026, at St. James Catholic Cathedral (215 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801), followed by burial at Glen Haven Memorial Park (2300 Temple Dr, Winter Park, FL 32789).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to the family’s heart.
