Jeanette S. Meisel September 3, 1927 - March 30, 2017 Jeanette Meisel passed away on March 30, 2017. She was born on Sept. 3, 1927 in DeLand, FL to Louise (Fountain) Harris and Horace Smith. She married Harry Meisel on Sept. 3, 1949 in DeLand, FL. Jeanette is survived by her children, Karen (David), Steve (Janice), Cathy, Kevin (Bobbie), Teresa (Mike); her grandchildren, Rachel (Charlie), Kevin (Laura), Sarah, Julia, Daniel, Brian, Monica, Meghan (Jamie), Lauren, and Evan; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Louise and Horace; and sisters, Elizabeth and Kathleen. Jeanette grew up in DeLand, Fl and graduated from DeLand High School in 1945. Her occupation was daughter, wife, mother, friend to many, counselor, baker, bookkeeper at Ford Tractor Company in DeLand, FL, and the list goes on and on. Jeanette was a lifelong Central Florida resident who generously gave of her time and talents to family, friends, neighbors, and community. She read the Bible and prayed the Rosary daily. She never met a stranger. Through her eighty-nine years of life, she guided many people in their faith and life. Her beautiful smile was welcoming and comforting. She was a model of joy and love to others and in living a good life. The door to her home was always open to family, friends, neighbors, and so many others. A visitor never left her home with an empty stomach or empty hand. Jeanette was know for her yummy baked goods and delicious home-cooked meals from her “two butt kitchen” without a dishwasher. She was the family nurse to all who needed her loving care in her home and afar. Jeanette and Harry were the ultimate team for sixty plus years. Harry's work and endeavors became her's too: from Orlando and Boone High School, Bishop Moore High School, St. Charles Catholic Church parishioner for fifty-eight years and CCW member, Kingswood Manor summer recreation program and Kingfish swim team, Rollins College and Alfond pool, Blue Dolfins swim team, American-Luxembourg friends of the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes), Orlando chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge (VBOB), to the World War II Memorial (VBOB) at Lake Eola Park, Orlando, FL. And then they were able to travel to visit many family and friends. Following Harry's passing, she lived independently and continued her lifelong passion of giving and to caring for others. Mother Angelica told people that “faith sets you on the path, hope keeps you on the path, and love brings you to the end”. Jeanette lived her life in this manner. She will be missed by many people. Jeanette's family extends their appreciation to all those who cared and loved her. You know that she loved you all.
