

Born in Asheville, North Carolina on September 26, 1925, Joe lived the majority of his childhood there in the mountains of western North Carolina before moving to St. Augustine, Florida to live with his father during his teenage years.
Although it was only two year, he was always proud of serving his country as part of the United States Navy during World War ll. Joe moved to the Orlando area in 1948 where took a job as an office boy for the Orlando Daily Newspaper (now the Orlando Sentinel Star). He attended the Southern School of Printing in Nashville, Tennessee and became a linotype operator. He retired from the Sentinel after 42 years, ending his tenure there in the Ad Composition Department.
It was in Orlando that he met his wife Barbara who he married in January of 1956. They were part of the charter membership of Aloma United Methodist Church in Winter Park. He faithfully served the Lord in that church including 10 years as its lay leader.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur G. Van Camp, Sr. and Rhobena H. Rogers and his older brother, Arthur G. “Nooney” Van Camp, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and his daughter, Lisa.
His funeral service will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 100 St. Andrew’s Blvd, Winter Park, Florida.
