John Michael (Mike) Hoepner passed away at home on August 15, 2021 at the age of 74. Mike was born in Boston, MA to Karl and Eileen Hoepner. When he was two, his family moved to St. Petersburg, FL where he graduated from Bishop Barry High School in 1965. He attended the University of Florida where he developed his life long love of Gator football and became a 35 year season ticket holder. Mike made the move back to New England after college to work for the Kendall Corporation, where his sons Michael and Matthew were born.
After 15 years in New England, he moved back to Florida and settled in Central Florida where he pursued his dream of entrepreneurship by starting Essential Medical Supply, Inc. with his future wife Carol Ann. Over 35 plus years of hard work, they developed Essential Medical Supply into a company in his image: innovative, caring and successful. Along with his company, Mike built the life he wanted by seeing the world, having the love of his wife and sons, caring for his beloved dogs and planting new landscaping around the house.
Mike was generous to all who knew him and is survived by his wife Carol Ann (Lacock Cheek) Hoepner; son John Michael Hoepner, Jr., daughter in law Rebecca (Robbins) Hoepner, grandchildren Austin and Whitney; son Matthew Hoepner, daughter in law Danielle (Griffith) Hoepner, grandchild Poppy Hoepner and soon to be Olive Hoepner. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of Mike’s favorite charities, St. Jude’s or the Flagler County Humane Society.
