

KENNETH L. WHITEHEAD, 79, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 24, surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born on May 3, 1936, the son of Leslie Spittle and Gertrude Kuenneth Whitehead. Ken grew up loving to spend time outdoors fishing and hunting or just spending time at the beach with friends. In Winter Park High School he was a varsity basketball player and excellent student. After graduating, Ken went on to attend Duke University and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Gamma Rho chapter. Ken began a successful business career with Owens-Illinois that spanned 30 years. During that time Ken married Audrey Virginia Covell and had three beautiful children, Lesley, Kevin and Michael. He continued in his outdoor passions, and renovated many homes. Ken retired from business in 1989, moved back to Winter Park and married his second wife of 27 years Judith Howard Romano, his high school sweetheart. Ken and Judy lived in the Winter Park area enjoying the beautiful Florida weather, time with their family, and their beloved cats. Ken was a kind and loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. Ken was known to many as Superman, the Cookie Monster, and Mr. Fantastic. He was ever the optimist, always telling people how happy he was to see them, how much he loved them, and whenever asked how he was doing answered with “Fantastic as always!!” Ken is missed by and survived by his loving wife of 27 years Judy, daughter Lesley Whitehead Arlasky and her husband Robert of Glen Ellyn, IL, sons Kevin Chapman Whitehead and his wife Tracy of Clearwater, IL. and Michael Fraser Whitehead of Austin, TX, his step-children Beth Romano of Foxfield, CO, Michael Howard Romano and his wife Elyse of Hudson, OH and grandchildren Caroline, Kendall and Sydney Arlasky, Michael, Lillian and Isabel Whitehead, Jacob Romano and Madison and Payton Romano.
