

Mildred P. Ewel, (Millie), Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister; 85 passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Majestic Oaks with her family by her side. Millie was born to the late Robert Hall and Myrtle Kathleen (Beam) Barnett on July 8, 1929 in Cherryville, NC. Millie was raised in Ft. Lauderdale and was a graduate of Ft. Lauderdale’s High School Class of 1947. At twenty, she enlisted in the Women’s Air Force and was a staff sergeant stationed in Washington D.C. where she worked at the Pentagon. During this time, she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Ewel. They were married in September, 1956 and together they raised four children. Millie was a long-time member of Asbury Methodist Church where she volunteered much of her time. She most loved her family, gardening, and painting. Millie and Bob loved to plan and take trips together out West and to Alaska. Millie was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara; sisters, Irene Barnett and Betty Stroupe; She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bob Ewel, son, Jim (Ann) Ewel of Seattle, WA; daughter, Vickie (Mark) Reedy of Maitland, FL; daughter Kathy (Mike) Jesse of Alpharetta, GA; daughter, Susan (Brad) Dumon of Milton, GA; brothers Sam, Bob, and Ken Barnett and sisters Julia and Pat. She was a loving grandmother to Charlie and Emma Ewel; Hali and Cam Reedy; Ryan Jesse; Trent and Jay Dumon. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness, especially the wonderful staff at Majestic Oaks at John Knox Village in Orange City, and VITAS Hospice. Services are at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 10th at Asbury United Methodist Church, 220 W. Horatio Avenue, Maitland, Florida.
