

Olga Vega Laboy, 83 passed away peacefully at her home in Orlando, Florida on October 9, 2022. She was born on December 28, 1938 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Emilio Vega Collado and Arcadia Cruz de Vega. Olga spent her early years in Puerto Rico. She often spoke of the beautiful countryside, mountains and spending time on her grandmother’s farm where she developed her love of tending to vegetables, fruit trees and riding horses.
Between 1946 and 1947 Olga and her mother moved to Brooklyn New York where her mother and stepfather operated a neighborhood Bodega. She often laughed about stopping by the Bodega after school for snacks and was scolded for eating the profits.
On September 10, 1955 Olga married her childhood sweetheart, Peter Laboy. The couple remained in New York until 1962 when they relocated to Miami, Florida. Her husband worked as an engineer for the FAA while Olga was la ama de casa. She truly enjoyed cooking for her family and neighbors especially dishes from her native Puerto Rico. It was in Miami where Olga was able to rekindle the gardening skills of her childhood and spent many happy hours in her yard. She had an unmatched vitality for life, always energetic and loved family get togethers.
In 1990 Olga and Peter returned to Puerto Rico where they made many happy memories reuniting with family and traveling. They returned to Orlando, Florida in 1995 to be with their 3 children and grandchildren.
Olga is predeceased in death by her husband, Peter Laboy. She is survived by her children Neftali Laboy, Peter Laboy and Ivonne Vega all of Orlando, Florida. Her grandchildren, Randy Laboy, Austin, Texas, Tiffany Laboy, Diego and Thalia Vega all of Orlando, Florida. Great grandchildren, Alexander and Zachary Laboy, McKinney, Texas.
