She met Jack Yoder in North Carolina soon their lives began together. Jack was scheduled to attend Officer Candidate and Flying Training School in the United States Air Force although WWII was over.
Phyllis was determined to be married prior to his departure and planned our wedding for her home church but it was to be officiated by Jack's Brother-in-law, a Lutheran Minister and a close family member. This was cause for great consternation among some of the Methodist church members.
The wedding was the beginning of military family life for Phyllis. The births and rearing of three children; Gregory, Denise & Teresa completed her family although she was left with the responsibility of the children when Jack was away from home on USAF duties. Phyllis was an outstanding wife and mother.
Military life took us to England for three years but allowed continental travel that would not have been possible otherwise. The family lived in Hawaii for four years, which made travel to Southeast Asia always a possibility while on vacation.
A promotion sent Jack back to the mainland for duty..under USAF headquarters. Having more free time allowed Phyllis to begin a career with Mary Kay Cosmetics.
The extensive amount time required to be away from home on Air Force Duty convinced Jack to retire and begin a second career, but where would this be??
We settled on Central Florida, moving here in 1972. Phyllis continued with Mary Kay while assisting Jack in founding a new business, Jayco Signs. Phyllis continued working in that capacity until she founded Lil 'Annie's Country Bar-B-Q. She served and operated the business for more than 12 years as the sole owner.
Greg joined his dad at Jayco upon returning to the US. after his tour with the Marines in Vietnam. Teresa continued her lifelong ambition of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and operates her own successful veterinary hospital.
Phyllis and Jack traveled extensively throughout the world until health issues overcame. Phyllis developed dementia and was forced into an assisted living facility memory center. She contracted COVID and Pneumonia that proved to be fatal, although she had been inoculated with a Pneumococcus and 4 Covid Vaccines.
When Phyllis and Jack were wed they vowed a promise to one another 'Until Death Do Us Part'.
After 74 years of marriage our time has come.
