

Reid Allison Page, Jr. died at home in Winter Park, FL on July 4, 2015. He was born on July 1, 1926 at home in Aberdeen, NC to Reid and Nancy Shelton, where he was President of Melton Co. and President of the 2 banks in Charlotte. His paternal grandparents were Julius Roboteau Page and Myrtle Alice McAuley of Aberdeen, NC. Reid attended Junior Military Academy, McCallie School, in TN and Oak Ridge Military Institute. He served America as a Pharmacist's mate, 1942-1945, on the oil tanker AO-19, USS Salinas, in the North Atlantic, South Atlantic and North Pacific. He was a Duke pre-med student and ward attendant for Meyer Ward, which was exclusive for top Psychiatrists and hopeless cases. On June 10, 1972 he married his present wife Mary Ann Colado Page of Winter Park, FL at Bruton Parrish Church in Williamsburg, VA. They returned to Pinehurst (the Sandhills) where they lived and worked actively for over 40 years. For many years he published newspapers in NC locally, the Pinehurst Gazette and the fine book, Tales of Pinehurst. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Gross, and their daughter, Kathryn Wyle Page. Reid is survived by his his wife Mary, daughter from his first marriage, Lisa Shelton, her two sons and one grandchild. He was active in Real Estate as a broker for over 50 years in Colorado Springs, CO, the Sandhills and Bald Head Island, NC. Reid's family dates to the 1740's from Cary, NC in the early 1800's where his great, great-grandfather founded the town. His forefathers came to VA, the Williamsburg area, before Williamsburg existed in 1628. Reid has been a strong outspoken Patriot and supporter for America, all his life. Freedom was vital to him; it is our birthright. We must protect Freedom for with out it all is lost. Any remembrance for him might be in a firm commitment to the constitution of America and Bill of Rights which this country lives by. America was free and it could perish someday otherwise. He remembered well his most sincere and valuable clients here and everywhere and wished them extremely well. A service may be held at the family plot in Aberdeen, where the Evening Star music from Tannhauser by R. Wagner will be played. Baldwin Fairchild in Winter Park and Powell Funeral Home in North Carolina are assisting the family.
