

Stanton, Rita Teresa , 86, of Winter Park, Florida passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 26, 1924 to John and Margaret Wright. Rita proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a member of the Waves, and was stationed in San Diego, CA. She married Thomas A. Stanton on October 7, 1950. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage before his death in 1994. Rita is survived by her six children: John C. Stanton (Alma) of Lumberton, NC; Thomas A. Stanton, Jr. (Mari) of Hollywood, FL; Edward J. Stanton (Susan) of Cedartown, GA; Bernadette M. Hallman (Randall) of Orange Park, FL; Christopher R. Stanton of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Timothy F. Stanton (Merrill) of Maitland, FL. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Edward J. Stanton, III, Kristin M. Hurst (Israel), Randall T. Hallman, Matthew A. Stanton, and Regan M. Stanton. She was blessed with many supportive friends. Her outgoing personality and love for others will be missed by all who knew her. Rita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her additional joys in life were Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Bingo. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 2 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Carey-Hand Funeral Home in Winter Park. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 10:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Augustine Clark officiating. Her burial will take place on Friday, February 4th at Ft. Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL, joining her beloved husband, Thomas.
