

Surrounded by his family, Thaddeus I. Kingsford, 91, of Orlando, passed away peacefully at Florida Hospital in Orlando on February 12, 2018. Ted, as he was known, was born in Detroit, MI and was a star high school athlete before joining the U. S. Navy during World War II. He went on to attend and play basketball for Auburn University from which he graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design. He married his college sweetheart, Jeanne Charles, and they were married for 64 years before his beloved Jeanne died from cancer in 2012. They raised three children In Atlanta, GA and Memphis, TN before retiring to Sarasota and then Orlando, FL. Over his work life, Ted became a nationally known business executive. He retired as Sr. Vice-President of Marketing with the Maybelline cosmetic company of Schering-Plough, Inc. Ted was regarded as a design and display genius and was the inventor and patent holder on numerous product and display devices. He won a Clio Award in 1982 for package Design for Dial-A-Lash and was recognized by the Point-of-Purchase Advertising Institute in 1997 when they inducted Ted into their Point-of-Purchase Hall of Fame. Ted was also an artist, writer and poet who loved his family, the beach, traveling and his Persian cats. His wisdom, opinions, dry sense of humor and love will be missed with the fondest of memories.
Ted leaves behind his three children, son, Scott Kingsford, and his wife, Linda, daughter, Elaine Cavanaugh, and son, Robert Kingsford, and his wife, Lynn, and six grandchildren, Alexandra, and her husband, Ethan Wright, and David, Sam, Jake, Jack and Adam Kingsford. Friends are invited to gather from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home - Ivanhoe Chapel, 310 NE Ivanhoe Blvd. Orlando FL 32804, with a memorial service for Mr. Kingsford to follow at 1pm.
