6-12-1967 – 8-21-2011
On August 21, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gently lifted the soul of Thomas Francis Lehmann Jr. from his earthly body to his heavenly home.
There to greet him was his beloved grandmother Alma Albright who was celebrating her earthly birth date that day. What a present for her and the others that were there to welcome Tommy. His grandfather George Albright, his father Thomas F. Lehmann Sr., grandmother Ester Lehmann Gay, and grandfather Karl Lehmann, whom Tommy had never met during his earthly life.
Tommy was born in Winter Park, and other than two years in Texas, was always in the Orlando area. He attended Aloma and Audubon Park Elementary schools, Glenridge Junior High, and graduated from Winter Park High School in 1985. He briefly attended UCF and then began working for Carter Concrete Company. In 1993, Tom became the owner and operator of Lehmann’s Lawn Maintenance. He faithfully served his customers until his passing.
Tom loved bass fishing and strictly believed in catch and release. Many times the release was into the lake behind his house. He was very unhappy if he ever saw a neighbor catch one of “his fish” that he thought might end up in the frying pan.
Tom was very interested in archaeology and looked forward to his issues of Archaeology Magazine. One of the highlights of his life was getting to explore some of the pyramids in Mexico. He also enjoyed collecting Indian arrowheads and relics which he carefully displayed.
Tom became an avid watch collector. He had such knowledge of each watch and its movements. He loved to notice someone’s watch and strike up a conversation. He would usually end up giving them information about their time piece that they had not known.
Tom didn’t play a musical instrument, but he loved the allure of the rock culture. He was a devoted fan and had plans to attend a concert in the fall.
Tom loved sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Minnesota Vikings. During football season he met weekly with friends at “their table” at the Ale House to watch the games.
Although Tom never served in the military he was exposed to respect and love of country through his grandfather, who was an Army Colonel, and his father who served in the Marines. Tom was very aware of current events and had a real concern for his country.
Tom was a loyal friend and always displayed a caring and compassionate attitude. He will be missed by his friends and others that knew him.
Tommy, and he will always be Tommy to his mother, Martha Albright Lehmann, who survives him. Tommy is also survived by two Great Aunts and many loving cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at noon at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Orlando, FL. Friends can visit with the family on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, at Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home 1350 W. Fairbanks Ave. Winter Park, FL. www.carey-handcox.com
