

Walter Passmore, 95, passed away peacefully in Winter Springs, Florida on May 19, 2022. He was born on July 14, 1926 in Milford, Delaware, the son of Walter Jason Passmore and Laura (Clapp) Passmore. The family relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where Walter spent his youth.
Walter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 12, 1943. Corporal Walter Passmore participated in action on Leyte in the Philippines as a Rifle Marksman. Upon returning stateside Walter learned to fly military aircraft. He often joked that he knew how to fly an airplane before he learned how to drive a car. He was Honorably Discharged in 1946 and returned to Philadelphia where he worked at Garrett’s Steel Mill as a Machine Operator. He met his future wife, Joan C. Woollam at Garrett’s and they married on August 18, 1954. The couple relocated to Santa Ana, California in 1955 where they started their family. Walter worked as a Milkman and part time at Disneyland in Anaheim. In 1972 Walter and his family moved to Orlando, FL.
Walter was an avid sportsman and sports fan. He joined the Pop Warner football league in 1946 and also enjoyed boxing in his youth. He was an ardent bowler and fisherman. He and his wife Joan loved music and dancing. Walter was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 286 where he served on several committees and the Honor Guard. In his later years he enjoyed woodworking and yard work.
Walter is survived by his daughter Joan C. Laboy, Orlando; son Walter “Jay” Passmore, Thornton, CO and daughter, Janice M. Passmore, Cape Canaveral; Grandchildren Michael Passmore, Greeley, CO; Brandon and Megan Passmore, Thornton, CO; Chantel Forbes, Aliegha and Alayna Washington all of Cape Canaveral; Great Grandchildren Taelor Passmore, Greeley, CO; Jayla, Kayla and Wayne Forbes all of Cape Canaveral.
Dad, it was an honor to walk beside you during your journey on this earth. My you rest in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father. You will be forever in our hearts. Here’s our final salute to you…. Semper Fi.
