

MITCHELL, M.D., WILLIAM BILLMitchell, Sr. (M.D.), Williams C. (Bill), 83, of Winter Park, FL returned to his heavenly home on November 28, 2013. Bill was born in Dalton, GA on August 10, 1930, the third son of Mary Adelia and Douglas Wright Mitchell, Sr. He attended Northwestern University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and graduated from Emory University Medical School where he was a member of Phi Chi Medical Fraternity. He was married to his lifelong sweetheart, the former Miss Lucy Lane Lambert of Dalton, GA, for 61 years. They moved to Winter Park, FL in 1960 where he began his OBGYN practice at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the OBGYN Society of Central Florida, OBGYN Medical Society of Florida, American College of OBGYN, American College of Surgeons, Southern Medical Society, American Society of Infertility, and a member of AMA. Bill was a founding member of Interlachen Country Club in Winter Park, FL. He was an avid golfer and bird watcher from age 11 and was also a founding member of Dalton High School's golf team. He was a passionate follower of the University of Georgia Bulldogs and had a lifelong commitment to the "Power G". Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park, FL since 1960. His passion and commitment were to his family and to his patients, who all adored him. Bill's light-hearted personality, uncanny sense of humor, and quick wit endeared him to all. He is survived by the love of his life, Lucy Lane and his four devoted children, Clay (Kim), Michael (Judy), Laura Lane Heidrich, and Mark; eight grandchildren, Massie Wanzenberg (Chris), Clay Mitchell, III; Mitch, Lucy Lane, and Adelia Heidrich; Michael and Ashley Mitchell; and three great-grandchildren, Wright, Cole and Lucy Wanzenberg. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 4:00 -5:00 p.m. at the Carey-Hand Cox Parker Funeral, 1350 W. Fairbanks Avenue, Winter Park, FL. The funeral service for Bill will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 125 N. Interlachen Avenue, Winter Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park.
