August Weichel

It is with heavy hearts that his family announces the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. August passed away at the age of 85 years on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. August was welcomed in heaven by his beloved wife Anne. August was born September 19, 1929 to Martin and Rose Weichel and married Anne Ripplinger on June 9, 1952. August is survived by three children: Ken (Laurie Schnieder) and their family Craig (Wendy) and their children Austin, Rhett, Carson and Kaitlyn; Curtis (Ashley) and their three sons Carter, Easton and Hudson; Clark, Jean (Bernie) and their family Calvin (Andrea) and their two sons Nathaniel and Jonathan, Denis (Leah) and daughters Kara, Tori and son Jace, Cheryl Roske (John Schmidt and family) and her family Desria (friend Justin), Dallas (friend Sara) and their father Curtis Roske; brother Mike (Babe) Weichel; sister Katie Stopanski; sisters in law: Theresa Weichel, Maggie Sebastian, Clara (Edward) Kress, Leona (Frank) Knoll and Mary Ripplinger. August was predeceased by his wife Anne, August 13, 2013, daughter Cindy, May 19, 1975; his parents Martin and Rose Weichel; sister Angeline Ripplinger; brother Cyriac Weichel; his in-laws John and Antonia (nee Baumgartner) Ripplinger; Anne’s step mother Anne Lenius; brothers in law George Sebastian, Chris Ripplinger and Andy Stopanski; nephew Ronald Stopanski. August’s greatest love was his wife Anne, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved farming, fishing, playing cards, a little Southern Comfort among friends, gopher hunting and was very proud to teach all his grandchildren to drive. He was known as “papa monkey” to his great grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Ignatius R.C. Church, Kendal, Sask. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. by Rev. Father Dennis Remot. Interment of cremated remains in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire contributions to the St. Ignatius Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 106, Kendal S0G 2P0 may be tokens of remembrance.
