

Christina Ann Fidelis Alexson, Ka-Nikamot Kewetinoskwew (Singing North Wind Woman) of Kahkewistahaw First Nation, fought a year long battle with cancer. She fell sick on December 5, 2024 and passed away with family by her side in Regina General Hospital on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the age of 71 years.
Christina was predeceased by her parents Thomas Bear and Eva Alexson; sisters: Joyce, Marla, Myra, Joanne and Viola Isaac; brother Robin Alexson; adopted sister Hilda Sutherland (Canu-Pawakpa) and one great-grandson Cassidy.
She will be missed and remembered by her children: Delphine (Mike), Vincent, Aaron (Theresa), and Travis; adopted children: Donna, Gabriel (Wanda) and Robert Delorme (Frances); stepchildren: Laura, Charity, Carrie, Alexis, Terry and Mikey; 12 grandchildren: Vincent, Tyman, Christien, Zachary, Oneisha (Tomee), Jasmine, Erin, Tyra, Kristina, Tyasia, Andy and Joshia; adopted grandsons Keystin and Keytin Delorme and 5 great-grandchildren: Libby, Samantha, Thor, Julian, Zyrah and June.
She is survived by her long time friend Shaney Twist; partner and husband Alex L. Lerat; sisters: Sharron, Geri, Wendy and Bonnie (Jerry); sister-in-law Ramona Alexson; adopted sisters: Joyce, Leona, Florence and Evelyn; one brother Romeo (Irene) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Christina worked hard all her life. She worked as a peacekeeper for her community until the day she fell sick. She was a role model for her family. Christina had an outgoing personality and a heart of gold. She always volunteered in her community. Her work history included being a childcare worker at Marieval/Cowessess Community Education Centre and Kahkewistahaw Fire Department and Construction. She graduated at the age of 60 with her ABE 12. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their sports, powwow and education. She was family oriented and was a positive person with a caring heart. She was an awesome kokum, mother, sister, friend and aunt. Christina wanted to join the powwow circle as a jingle dress dancer because she survived cancer previously. She loved to laugh.
The wake was held in the Kahkewistahaw First Nation Community Complex on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service took place in the same location on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Allan Delorme and helper and Pastor Chris Toth officiating. The pallbearers will be: Tomee Cope, Farron Tanner, Brandon Alexson, Alvin Alexson, Dion Louison and Demitri Bobb. The honorary pallbearers are: Kahkewistahaw Peacekeepers, her adopted children, grandchildren and students of Cowessess Residential School. The interment will take place in the Kahkewistahaw Cemetery, followed by a buffet style lunch.
