

It is with sadness, the family of Edith Minnie Urschel announces her passing in Grenfell Pioneer Home on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the age of 90 years. Edith will be lovingly remembered by George, her husband of 70 years; three sons, Don (Wendy), Brian (Lynn), and Alan (Judy), and two daughters, Carolyn (Arnold) Ortt and Leona (Ed) Johnston, thirteen grandchildren, Debbie Peterson, Paul (Tracy) Urschel, Bruce (Bobbi Jo) Urschel, Colleen (Kevin) Lutz, Jennifer (Bruce) Loveridge, Lauren (Ryan) Maurer, Amanda (Jason) Zaremba, Brent (Chylisse) Urschel, Lisa (Jeremy) Seatter, Jason (Kim) Urschel, Travis (Tammy) Urschel, Clay (Kelly) Johnston, and Becky (Travis) Page, and twenty-nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Alice Wolfe, two sisters-in-law, Clara Wolfe and Tillie Ruschiensky, brothers-in-law, Albert (Ann) Urschel and John (Dorothy) Urschel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth Wolfe (Schlamp), brothers, Jake, John, Val and Willie Wolfe, sisters, Phyllis Neuls and Lena Bennett, great grandson, Landon Ennis, and parents-in-law, Adam and Elizabeth Urschel. Born and raised in Grenfell, Edith married George Urschel in 1939. She was a willing, hard-working partner as they struggled to begin their farming career in the early 1940's. As they raised 5 children, she worked alongside George and they built a prosperous and beautiful family farm. Edith had a strong faith, and spent many hours volunteering at their church. In 1975 they moved to Grenfell where she continued to enjoy many activities. She loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers both indoors and out. She was a wonderful cook and was most happy when she was entertaining family and friends. She was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. A celebration of Edith’s life will be held in Trinity Presbyterian Church, Grenfell, SK., on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Jonathon Kwon officiating. Interment in the Grenfell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire contributions to the Grenfell Level lV Fund, donations made payable to the Town of Grenfell, Box 1120, Grenfell, SK., S0G 2B0 may be tokens of remembrance.
