Elsie was the youngest and last surviving member of her immediate family. Now she completes the cycle of life and is reunited with her mother, Elsie Grey senior, her father Burril, brothers Morris, Bill, Victor, Lionel (Chub) Allan, Corky and sisters Vera and Winnie.
Elsie was born at home in 1934 and grew up in Sintaluta, Saskatchewan and grew up there until she was eighteen. She then moved to the city of Regina were soon thereafter, she would meet and marry our father Donald Everett McClelland. From there, they made a good life for themselves and had four children, Carol, Richard, Melanie and myself, the youngest brat, Darren.
They moved to Winnipeg from 1964 to 1977, but retuned back home to Regina. Unfortunately, Don took ill and passed at the early age of 58. Elsie never re-married and remained single. She moved out to Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, where she was always the happiest. She loved the rural cottage living and enjoyed living with the birds and the animals. However, in her later years she moved back to Regina where she lived independently until the age of 86, until she took ill and moved into the Santa Maria Care Home, until her passing.
I would like to extend a special thank you and eternal gratitude to my children Jessica and Drew McClelland, who were there for their grandmother in her final hours.
Elsie leaves behind her loving children, Carol Bareham (Lor), her son Richard McClelland (Georgina), her second daughter Melanie Biccum (Brian) and to me, Darren and my loving wife and soulmate Lyane McClelland who always was always there for her and gave her unconditional love.
Elsie also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Candice, Graeham, Julie, Greg, Alysha, Jessica and Drew. She will be reunited with her loving grandson Scott McClelland who passed away much too early, who left behind his loving wife, Jennifer and mother to their children, Cloe, Bella and Teagan. Oh, how mom loved and adored those great grandchildren.
As per Elsie's wishes, she will be laid to rest with her loving mother Elsie Grey senior in Sintaluta, Sask. There was no services.
I would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Santa Maria Care Home in Regina for their good care and attention they provided to mom in her most difficult years.
Rest in peace mom. We will miss and love you forever.
