Ernest George

Ernest loved travelling to sunny destinations like the Caribbean and Arizona. He pursued several interests including golf, chess, pool, crib, scrabble, and Sudoku. Ernest served on the Ochapowace Band Council for two terms, worked for the band over several years in Economic Development and, most recently, Labour Force Development, and was part of a team that ensured a strong legacy for the Ochapowace Nation for the next seven generations.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the M.I.C.U. at the General Hospital in ensuring Ernie's dignity and caring for him during his last days. To Chief Margaret Bear, thank you for the kind words you offered to Ernie, his friends, and his family. To councillor Shelley Bear and Denise Beaudin, thank you for coming to visit Ernie on his final day. To all friends and family who came to visit him in his last days and to those who could not, thank you.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Joyce; son Larry (Marsha); grandchildren Daysun, Demetri, Mia, Malaya, Michelle, with twins on the way; father-in-law Laurence; brother Douglas (Tessa); sisters Balinda (Cory), Twila, Karen; brother-in-laws Erroll (Josie), Ross; sister-in- laws Lorna (Wally), Angela, Valerie, Julie, Beatrice, Leota; special cousin Lois; best friend Jan; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Gladys George; grandparents Alex and Clara; mother-in-law Rosalie; and siblings Denton, Clifton, Kimberlain, Darrel (Johnson), Patricia, Athenia, Lovella, Frederick, and Reuben.

Wake will be held in Chief Denton George Memorial Multiplex on Monday, August 21 at 4:00 p.m. with Elder Winston Bear officiating. A Feast Chief Denton George Memorial Multiplex on Tuesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow the feast at the Belanger (Kinistino) Homestead Lonesome Prairie.
