

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Ina (Mother), Mikunsi (Grandmother), Inana (Aunty) and Micuni (Older Sister), Wamni Omani Wiya - Gail Constance Thompson. Gail was born on December 18, 1951 and died on March 22, 2024 at 12:55 p.m. in the Indian Head Hospital when she started her journey to the spirit world.
Gail was predeceased by her partner Alvin Saulteaux; maternal grandmothers Maggie Jack (Walker) and Katherine Walker (Thompson); paternal grandfather old man Charlie Ryder Sr.; father Georgie Ryder Jr.; sister Donna Thompson; brothers James Thompson and Russell Ryder; sons Alvin Thompson and Dallon Thompson; daughter Nellie Thompson and grandchildren Tyrell Keewatin and Ashley Kuffner.
Gail is survived by her loving children: Raylene Thompson, Agnus Saulteaux, William Miller, Nathen Thompson, Donelda Hotomani (Errol Hotomani), Eldeen Thompson, Ronette Thompson (Anthony Phillips) and Della Thompson (Elvin Cappo); adopted sons: Collin Eashappie Sr. (Cheryl Eashappie), Mathew Eashappie (Teewanna Eashappie) and Garry Dustyhorn (Jennilee Eashappie); sisters: Dianne Smith, Leanne Guest (Al Guest), Dorothy Rope, Vera Thompson and Sonya Desnomi; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
When Gail was younger she loved riding horses and helping her grandparents around their home. Gail also loved the outdoors and driving in the pasture all day with her sister Dorothy. She enjoyed horses, camping outdoors and enjoyed going for visits to Calgary.
Family would like to thank: Rolanda Eashappie, Bushy Eashappie for travelling to Regina and back home for dialysis and to the Indian Head Hospital.
The wake was held in Carry The Kettle Community Hall, Carry The Kettle First Nation on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service was held in the Carry The Kettle Community Hall on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Cliff Thomson and Kelly Thomson officiating. The interment followed in the South Cemetery, Carry The Kettle First Nation.
The pallbearers were: Preston Prettyshield, Michael Prettyshield, Leon Adams, Scott Eashappie Sr., Cyle Ryder and Seymour Rope.
The honorary pallbearers were: Kurt Adams, Aurel Eashappie, Garry Dustyhorn, Colin Eashappie Sr., Mathew Eashappie and Robert Spencer Sr..
