DELORME, Norman Francis - Walking on the Ground (Mother Earth) - Makoce Agan Mani - On Friday, January 5th our beloved father, Mushom, great Mushom died peacefully at the age of 87. He was born on Cowessess Reserve on November 15, 1930.
Norman was predeceased by his parents Jim and Harriet Delorme; loving wife Viola (nee Acoose), daughter Donna; grandsons Noel and Timmy; brothers Manny, Stan, Wilfred and Richard; sisters Rose (Acoose), Evelyn (Rowek), Lorraine (Acoose), Pearline (McHugh) and Ivy "Babes". He is survived by sister Alma "Cook" Delorme, sister-in-law Terri Delorme, son Duane (Karen), daughters Noreen (Bear), Susan, Frances, Angela, Carolynn; 23 beloved grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
As many know, Norman was lovingly referred to as Stormy Norm mainly for his outgoing and humorous outlook on life. As a young man growing up on Cowessess, Norman was a hockey player and he carried his love for sports throughout his life. He never missed his children's and grandchildren's sports activities but more notably, he was an avid sports fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Raptors (he never missed their games either!). He worked very hard all his life mainly as a heavy equipment operator and would often comment on the roads that he helped to build so he spent a lot of time working in various locations in the province early in his career. Later, when he was able to work on the reserve he became well known as "the best grader man on the four reserves".
All are welcome to pay their final respects at a traditional and R.C. Service to be held at Sakimay complex. The wake will be held on Monday, January 8th at 4:00 p.m. and the service will be on Tuesday, January 9th at 11:00 a.m. Norman's request is to be cremated and buried with his wife in Sakimay. Interment will be held at a later date.
At this time the family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Pasqua Hospital in Unit 4A. The care and attention he received was excellent although he often complained of the multiple pokes and prods. The sympathy and consideration that was shown to our many family members who gathered in the final hours of his life will never be forgotten.
